Online community

  • I chose Facebook, like so many others I saw. That's one of the reasons I chose it - everyone knows about it and almost everyone uses it!
  • I use this to keep up with people, but also as a PLN. I can ask any of my teacher friends that live in a different state how they do Back to School night or Meet Your Teacher night and get lots of great ideas. Then other friends can reply, telling what they remember that was a fun activity.
  • I don't see my library using it, just because my school is small and it only has students K-2. Parents would have to do most of the writing on the wall/checking on it/etc.

  1. I'm glad you said ALMOST everyone uses it because I am one of the few remaining Facebook hold outs! :-)

  3. What a great idea to use Facebook as part of your PLN. I was excited to add some of our fellow classmates as friends on Facebook and add to my PLN. I think it is very user friendly and a quick and easy way to communicate with other teachers.-Darci

  4. I have a facebook account as well but I do not and will not use it for school or to connect with former students. Not that I have anything to hide about myself, but I just have those boundaries. Other teachers are friends with me on facebook but there is no communication about school on my site. It is interesting how you use facebook. I would be curious to actually see it.
